City of BARCELONA
Barcelona, the second largest city of Spain, is situated on the south-east of the Iberian Peninsula in the autonomous community Catalonia. The surface of 100 squared kilometres is the home of more than 1.6 million people, whereof 300.000 are immigrants, mostly from Spain’s former possessions in Latin America. This makes Barcelona an unusual mixture of different nationalities and cultures. Besides Castellan, people speak Catalan, an co-official language in that community.
An impressive variety of cultural and sport events, a wealth of unique historic architecture, monuments, museums and galleries of the world famous artists along with multiplicity of discos, bars and restaurants, gives the view of how the life is in Barcelona. A constantly changing city, with people painting, singing and playing music on the street simply can’t bore. Probably that’s why Barcelona is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe.
The truth is that a stay of only one or several days won’t give you the opportunity to see even one-third of what Barcelona can offer. An ideal reason to learn Spanish in Barcelona! A longer stay here during your Spanish language course, will be a great opportunity to discover this incredible city.
