Visiting Salamanca means you can enjoy the Spanish culture in one of the most spectacular Renaissance cities in Europe.
Not so strange that this ‘Golden City’ (thanks to the sun that change the sandstone buildings into gold) offers you a lot of interesting buildings and places, that are definitely worth a visit.
Both tourists and locals love the Plaza Mayor, the heart of Salamanca. Although you can find these squares in almost every Spanish city, the Plaza Mayor in Salamanca is considered to be the most magnificent.
Also impressive are the Cathedrals. Don’t miss the facades of both of them, they are richly decorated. If you are here, try to find the famous astronaut, a joke of the restaurateurs.
And when you are in Salamanca, of course you are not allowed to miss the University of Salamanca, one of the oldest in the world. There is so much to see in this city, from interesting art museums to more beautiful sandstone buildings.
